Overview
Dr. “Aileen” Curtin, a native of Ireland graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Mary Immaculate College of Education, Limerick, Ireland in 1983. She was a Gaelic language immersion teacher for the Department of Education, Ireland, for six years before immigrating to the United States in 1989.
She taught for Kansas City Kansas Public School District and for Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District until 1999. In 1996 and, while teaching for H-E-B ISD, she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas Wesleyan University. Dr. Curtin graduated from the University of North Texas with a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Administration.
Dr. Curtin joined served as faculty at Texas Wesleyan University from 2000-2018. During her time at Wesleyan she taught undergraduate and graduate students in the school of education. From 2008-2013, she served as the founding director for the Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) degree program. She taught doctoral courses and chaired dissertations until 2018. During her time at Wesleyan she academically coached undergraduate and graduate students and also taught Yoga twice a week at Morton Fitness Center, Sacred Soul Yoga studio in Hurst and at Center of Unity in Grapevine Texas.
She completed her 200 hour yoga teaching training in 2012 and her 500 hour in 2017. She completed her Professional Life Coach training in 2018 with Life Coach Institute of Orange County, California. Aileen is also a spiritual teacher, Ordained Minister and performs weddings, funerals, celebration of life and life transition celebrations.
She is an accomplished speaker and presenter locally, nationally and internationally. She is a published author. She is an avid advocate for healthy living and believes that movement is medicine.
Dr. Curtin served as a commissioner for Hurst Civil Service Commission Board from 2004 2018.
She now resides in St Petersburg area and teaches at Nava Yoga Studio on the beautiful island of Isla Del Sol.
